What You Can Expect from a FIT System

  • Total cost (including installation, utilities fees, building permit, ESA permit, electrician’s fees, engineering) wiill depend on a number of factors but would typically be between $2.00 and $3.00 per watt. For example, a 100kW system would cost between $200 000 and $300 000.
  • The IESO just released new pricing for 2017 FIT projects under FIT 5. The full price schedule can be found here. The annual expected income for a south-facing, unshaded roof surface for a 100kW FIT system, for example, would be around $25 000.
  • Typical return on investment would be between 5 and 8% per year averaged over the 20 year contract period
