** Please note: 2017 will be the final year for the microFIT program. The IESO will no longer be accepting applications after 2017. Also note that there is a 50MW procurement target for the entire province. Once 50MW of microFIT solar projects have been allotted, no additional contracts will be awarded. Flanagan and Sun strongly recommends that if you are considering a grid tie solar system, you should start the process by this Spring. Please contact us and we would be happy to help you.

Update from IESO

This is to advise that 2017 is the last year that the IESO will accept applications for the microFIT Program. The IESO will accept applications under the microFIT Program up to and including Thursday, December 28, 2017, or until the 50 MW procurement target is reached. As of July 7, 2017, there was 28 MW remaining in the 2017 procurement target. Updates on the amount of capacity remaining in the 2017 Annual Procurement Target can be found in the microFIT bi-weekly reports. The IESO is required to stop accepting applications under the microFIT Program by December 31, 2017, as per the direction issued by the Minister of Energy on April 5, 2016.

Any microFIT application that is submitted to the IESO on or before 11:59 p.m. EPT on December 28, 2017, will be processed in accordance with the microFIT Rules. Applications will not be automatically terminated on December 31.

Please be advised that applicants whose applications do not meet program requirements and are terminated after December 28, 2017, will not have an opportunity to submit a new one. As such, please review your application carefully prior to submitting it to the IESO to ensure that it meets all of the completeness and eligibility requirements, and continue to monitor your application through your My microFIT Home Page to ensure that it is progressing in accordance with the timelines outlined in the microFIT Rules.

The microFIT program is part of the IESO Feed-In-Tariff (FIT) program in Ontario. This program provides incentive for community groups, businesses and individuals to develop small-scale renewable energy projects in Ontario. The IESO enters into a 20 year contract with project owners, paying owners a fixed price for the electricity they produce and sell to Ontario’s power grid.
